(yes i know that international poetry was last month. But i feel like....Sharing my "gift" with the world. lol. I'm only putting up one...and it was one that Kora liked. So...yeah ^_^)
Paper Crane
Sarah Reid
I bend downwards
Towards you.
Towards hell.
I see where I'm going
I fear it, loathe it, despise it...
And embrace it all at once.
I'd give anything to turn away
But lack the strength myself
And don't know how to ask
Or - ask effectively
Like a half-crushed paper crane
Striving for beauty
Yet held down by things it can't explain
My life unfolds.
Go ahead
Bear witness to the destruction.
There we go. A poem. It was written August 28, 2002 by yours truly.
I had the worst cup of coffee yesterday. At starbucks. It was burnt and bitter. No - it was really, really, REALLY gross. And while we were out, driving, we kept on coming across all these cul-de-sacs...! And a street turned into a cul-de-sac! No , I'm NOT joking! Both K and i saw a car zip past us, so we turned down the street it was on, looking for 56th.........and it was a cul-de-sac. That and we came across the 'murder house' and a street that was a street that was in my one nightmare. Seriously. And there were killer animals all over the place...and some sort of subhuman screaming in town.......then we discovered that it was the dark of the moon. Kora said something very frightening about 'the world being plunged into darkness, without any light to show us the way...." so.....all in all we had an eventful night. I think we drove for a solid three hours. And i only used a 1/4 tank of gas.
...but the clincher of the night?
....We heard Tommy on the radio!!!!!!!! Both K and i started screaming and turned it up loud and sang away our blues -! lol. Didn't keep away the demons last night, though. We were a little too teeny-bopper last night. I think that's the REAL reason they don't let kids drive >_<
Anyhoo...I'm done for now, i suppose.
Ta.
