The fourth, the fifth...the minor falls and the major lifts...
Yeah, no, I can't get into any of the fics without having to download something. They let me get there from home, though, so whatever. Doesn't bug me enough to make any effort to change anything.
So, last night at TaeK was interesting. After the warm-up i was partnered was with this kid, Max. Seriously, I scared the shit out of the guy. And i didn't even do anything: in fact, I was extraordinarily pleasant to him. Considering that he annoys me to no end i thought that was quite the accomplishment. But he was all fidgitey and nervousy. I look at him - this conversation ensues
Me: Calm down, man. Don't be nervous: I'm really not that intimidating.
Him: ...ok...so....I guess we should....start
Me: Yup. How do you want to do this? Should I attack you first or vise versa?
Him:well....
Me: How about I attack you.
It goes on like this until we get to the more...invasive ones. The ones where you get CLOSE to your attacker before throwing them onto the ground (compared to the advanced block they're nothing: some of the moves get you right into some of the more...personal areas of your opponent. Hey - looks like fun to me ^_~ JOKING. Geez. Don't look at me like that.). Anyway, this doesn't bother me. I mean, I'm not an overly touchy person (unless i know you well. Then it doesn't bug me at all.), and yeah, it was a little intimidating at first. However. THis kid - his eyes get really big and he just...stares. I start the move, pull him close and he gets all....weird.
Me: Does it bother you, being this close to me?
Him:......no?....
Me: Good.
BAM he hits the floor. I will admit that i was having a little bit of fun with him - making him more nervous that he should have been. But honestly - it's not like I have fleas or anything. I bet it was the whole 'she's a girl' thing. It's a good way to get to know people, though. < oops - was that your groin? Sorry, i didn't think I was kneeling there >
The brakes on my car started grinding again. Good lord am I ever glad that it's going in on Saturday.
Just when we think we've come so far...
The latest story that absolutely breaks my heart: the 17 year old kid beat to death outside of his high school. I never understood racism. I don't get why people feel the need to look down on someone because of skin color - race, religion, etc. I always...always thought that it's kind of like you can't help what colour you are, so why penalize someone for it? Everyone has something valuable they can give back to the world, not to mention that in the end we're all people. So why the fuss? bah. And of course, just as this happens Time releases a piece on racism in Europe - anti- semetism in on the rise yet again.
It seems like civilization is only skin deep. Scratch the surface a little and you find out what we're REALLY made of.
I guess that's it for now. Seven more days to go in this place. Seven.
Ta.
